Schadowstrasse 47

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The commercial building at Schadowstrasse 47 in Düsseldorf was built in Art Nouveau style between 1903 and 1904 by the architect Peter Paul Fuchs for the engineer H. Tebay . The building no longer exists.

description

The building was four storeys high, with the two lower storeys being equipped with large shop windows. In “modern forms”, these showed an “iron construction between sandstone pillars”. The iron construction ended with box girders that took the load of the upper floor masonry. The upper floor masonry was plastered, framed by sandstone edging. On the top floor a semicircular wooden bay window with a decorative gable protruded from it. A shop window passage led into the courtyard. The staircase to the upper floor appeared remarkable.
