The Thecamoebi (Thecamoebida), also known as shell amoebas in German , are single-celled organisms that are counted among the Amoebozoa .
features
The cells of the Thecamoeben are flattened and oblong-round, furrowed and wrinkled on the back. The hyaloplasm located in front forms crescent-shaped appendages that extend sideways and never exceed half the length of the body. However, real pseudopods or subpseudopods do not occur. Thecamoeben have an amorphous or structured cell envelope (theca) that sits on top of an amorphous layer and is comparatively thin.
Taxonomy
The taxon was described by Asa Arthur Schaeffer in 1926 . Previously they were to Wurzelfüßern asked (Rhizopoda), one in the current system no longer in use class .
