Remains of the ski jump at Klein Zicker

The ski jump at Klein Zicker was a military fortification on the Klein Zicker peninsula belonging to Rügen .

It was located at the highest point on the peninsula north of the village of Klein Zicker, which belongs to Mönchgut . In the first quarter of the 18th century, the hill was part of the Swedish defense system under Charles XII. during the Great Northern War . The very good view over the Greifswalder Bodden south of the Mönchgut could have been decisive for the construction of the facility at this point . Incidentally, the strategic importance is rated as rather minor.

The remains of the complex, which are protected as a ground monument , can be recognized as an approximately circular wall. The diameter is about twelve meters. On the outside, hollows can still be seen from which the material for the filling of the wall was taken. Today the area is covered by a small forest.
