Schaulager
The Schaulager , built on behalf of the Laurenz Foundation by the Basel architects Herzog & de Meuron , was opened in Münchenstein near Basel in 2003 and is primarily designed as an open warehouse that creates optimal spatial and climatic conditions for the storage of works of art. In terms of concept, it is a mixture between a public museum, an art warehouse and an art research institute.
The Schaulager presents itself to a wider public with a special exhibition for a few months each year.
