Target position

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The target stand is a facility in Switzerland where targets necessary for off- duty shooting are set up and the projectiles are caught in the bullet trap. A target stand must meet strict safety requirements.

A distinction is made between target positions for manually displayed targets and target positions for electronically displayed targets. Mixed forms are also possible. In Switzerland there are mostly mixed targets. This is because the conversion to electronic systems started around the 1980s.

Target range of a 300m shooting range

The main components of a target system for 300m shooting are:

  • Front trench wall
  • Baffle plate
  • "Bunker" for the hands
  • Disc train with discs
  • Artificial or natural bullet trap
  • Artificial bullet trap box

In the case of short-distance systems such as 25m and 50m, there are usually no separate target positions. The structure of the bullet trap is similar to that of the 300m systems.
