Disc plug (also disc slider , kit manager , English loader ) is the name for helpers at championships in weightlifting and powerlifting . You are responsible for loading and unloading the dumbbell and clean the dumbbell bar or the competition platform when requested by the main referee. If an athlete is injured, disc plugs are not allowed to step onto the platform to help an athlete - a doctor is available for this. Instead, disk plugs should be positioned in front of the platform in order to minimize the view of the audience or television cameras on the incident. Disc connectors are also increasingly being used, especially in women's competitions.

Weightlifting

Disc connector controls the secure fit of the locking screws

When lifting weights, the disc plugs are paired to attach the weight plates to the dumbbell . The dumbbell weighs 20 kg for men and 15 kg for women. You fix the weight plates with two locks, each weighing 2.5 kg. They follow the weight instructions given by the main referee. Before each attempt, the disc plugs check that the locking screws are tight.

During the competition, the judges must ensure that only the athlete or the disc connector move the barbell to a new position on the platform. The two disc connectors have to leave the four by four meter competition platform during an attempt.

Powerlifting

Disc plugs secure the bench press without touching the athlete or the weight. Here: Mariana Naumova, world record holder in bench press for girls under 14 years of age during an exercise; Weight: 77.5 kg. December 25, 2011, Moscow.

In powerlifting , disc plugs also set the desired height of the squat and bench press stands.

There are between two and five disc plugs on the platform. When a lifter prepares to try, the disc pins can help the lifter lift the dumbbell out of the stand. They can also help to put the dumbbell back in the stand after the attempt. They also secure the athlete.

Between the signals for the beginning and the end of the attempt, the disc connectors must not touch the lifter or the dumbbell, unless the lifter could injure himself. In this case, the disc pins may either intervene in the attempt at the request of the main referee or the lifter himself and free the lifter from the dumbbell.
