The Scheidnössli ( Uri German spoken as Schäidnesli , interpreted as the small rock ledge (nose) on the border ) is a geotope at the northern exit of the village of Erstfeld in the Swiss canton of Uri .

It is located in the forest by the north portal of the Gotthard Base Tunnel . Here one encounters 14 different rock layers within five meters of height. The outcrop shows the transition between the gneiss of the crystalline basement and the younger calcareous sea sediments deposited on it .

The Scheidnössli has been listed in the federal inventory of landscapes and natural monuments of national importance since 1983 .
