Sham trunk

Sham stem (or leaf stem ) is a term used in botany . It occurs in some perennial plant species. The pseudo trunk is formed by the leaf sheaths , which are rolled into one another, juicy and stiffened by reinforcing tissue.

Examples are Weißer Germer , Bananas or Scadoxus multiflorus .
