Schekker was the online youth magazine of the German government . From 2001 to 2015, texts from the fields of politics, economy and society were published there regularly. Once a month, Schekker also dealt in detail with a top topic.

Under the editorial and technical direction of the Dresden youth magazine SPIESSER , which Schekker had been commissioned to produce since 2009, young people from all over Germany wrote articles on political topics for the online magazine . Schekker lived on the principle "by young people for young people". The young authors came from all over Germany. Regular meetings and journalistic workshops helped to improve the quality and style of the published texts.

Each issue dealt primarily with a previously defined main topic, which could vary from opportunities to participate in the FRG to topics such as the European Union , international organizations or religion to the 2006 soccer World Cup in Germany.

In an email dated June 12, 2015, the editorial team announced that the website would go offline at the end of 2015, as the Federal Government's Press and Information Office had decided not to continue the magazine. The last top topic appeared at the end of June 2015. After that, there was no more new content on the site.
