Rendsburg ship greeting system
The Rendsburg ship greeting facility is a facility on the Kiel Canal directly at the Rendsburg high bridge . It was inaugurated on June 2, 1997 as the second ship greeting facility in Germany.
The ship greeting system , which the Willkomm-Höft ship greeting system in Wedel has as a model, arose from the idea of offering tourists in Rendsburg another attraction. Initially, the facility at the Brückenterrassen restaurant was only occupied on weekends, but now ships are greeted daily from 10 a.m. until dark by dipping the respective national flag and playing the national anthem. Guests at the ship greeting system receive information about the ships passing through the canal. At first, the information about the ships had to be gathered from the ship's greeters.
