Schkedei marak ( Hebrew שקדי מרק, German soup almonds , from Yiddish Mandelach ) is a popular soup in Israel . They have a small, square pillow shape, are made from pressed wheat flour and oil and are colloquially known as croutons . As usual in Israel, they are kosher and parve (neutral) and are also eaten dry as a snack. Originally they were only offered by the food manufacturer Osem , today there are also products from other manufacturers.
