Ioannis Paraskevopoulos

Ioannis Paraskevopoulos ( Greek Ιωάννης Παρασκευόπουλος , * 1900 in Lavda , Elis prefecture ; † April 8, 1984 in Athens ) was a Greek political scientist, politician and twice prime minister.

Scientific career

Paraskevopoulos studied law and economics at the Universities of Athens , Munich , Jena , Frankfurt and London . He then worked at Deutsche Bank (1925) and from 1925 to 1929 at Midland Bank . In 1929 he moved to the Greek National Bank and became director there. At the same time he began an academic career from 1936, in 1943 he became professor of political science at the Pantion University of Athens and in 1961 its rector. He was a professor of economics at the Athens University of Economics.

Political career

As a minister, he belonged to the governments of Archbishop Damaskinos Papandreou from October 17, 1945 to November 1, 1945 and from October 11, 1952 to November 19, 1952 of Prime Minister Dimitrios Kiousopoulos .

From December 31, 1963 to February 19, 1964 and from December 22, 1966 to April 3, 1967 Paraskevopoulos himself was Prime Minister of transitional governments.

Paraskevopoulos died on April 8, 1984 in Athens.
