Stephanos Stephanopoulos
Stephanos Stephanopoulos ( Greek Στέφανος Στεφανόπουλος , * 1898 in Divri ; † October 4, 1982 in Athens ) was a Greek politician and former prime minister.
Stephanopoulos was Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister in the cabinet of Marshal Alexandros Papagos from 1952 to 1955 and, after his death, was Prime Minister from October 4 to 6, 1955. In the role of Foreign Minister, he signed the first friendship treaty between Greece , Yugoslavia and Turkey on February 28, 1953 in Ankara .
On September 17, 1965 he was again Prime Minister of a government that was initially supported by the conservative parties and breakaway members of the government of the Center Union (EK) , which was deposed on July 15, 1965, by Georgios Papandreou . In 1966 he was also foreign minister. However, he could not achieve a permanent parliamentary government, so that his government failed on December 22, 1966.
