Schluetergut

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Schlütergut is a former estate south of Freising . Today the Weihenstephan dairy is located there .

Anton Schlueter , founder of the tractor manufacturer Anton Schlueter Munich , acquired the Freising machine factory Otto Schülein in 1911 and converted it into a foundry. Only one year later he acquired the Schmidtbauernmühle south of Freising and built a farm there. This was used for the development and testing of the tractors and was also the residence of the Schlueter family. The third Schlüter factory was built a few hundred meters north.

With the changes in agriculture, Schlüter got more and more financial problems. Therefore, the estate and 80  hectares of land were sold to the Bavarian state in 1987. Saaten-Union acquired 50 hectares . However, even these sales could not save Schlueter and the end of 1993 brought the end of the company.

The new headquarters of the then state-owned Weihenstephan dairy, which is now part of the Theo Müller Group, was built on the grounds of the estate . Large parts of the building were preserved. These include the three-wing manor house with a tower and bay window , another tower that is now integrated into the factory halls , as well as a dovecote and the apiary , all of which are listed. The park laid out in the 1960s was also restored.
