The battle of Älgarås took place in November 1205 in the area of today's Swedish municipality of Töreboda near Älgarås, Västergötland , Sweden .
Älgarås was a royal residence of the Erik family . This sex was in disputes over the throne with the Sverker family . Before the attack of the Sverkers, who were commanded by Sverker II , the future King Erik Karlsson was in the residence with his brothers Jon, Joar and Knut. All the brothers except Erik were killed in the battle. The residence was burned down after the battle and can no longer be located today.
