structure

The institute is managed by a board of directors to which the legal scholar Sophie Schönberger and the political scientist Thomas Poguntke belong.

history

The institute emerged in 1991 under the name "Institute for German and European Party Law" from a research project on "The party law of the EC states" (since the end of 1985). The project was initiated and carried out by Dimitris Th. Tsatsos , professor for "German and Foreign Constitutional Law and State Doctrine" at the FernUniversität Hagen . This was also the first director of the institute. In 1997 Martin Morlok took over the management of the institute.

After a move to the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf , the task of the institute was expanded to include party research in the context of political science. This was followed by a renaming to “Institute for German and European Party Law and Party Research (PRuF)”, an interdisciplinary institution of the law and philosophy faculties of Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf .

Since January 1, 2011, the PRuF has been continued under the name Institute for German and International Party Law and Party Research as the central academic institution of Heinrich Heine University.
