Battle of Rovine

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Battle of Rovine was held on 17 May 1395 between the Wallachian army led by the voivode Mircea I of Wallachia (1355-1418) and of I. Bayezid led Ottoman invasion forces instead. The battle is said to have taken place near the Argeș River . The exact site of the battle is as controversial as its outcome, although the majority of literature assumes a Wallachian victory or at least an advantage.
