In the battle of Issus the troops of the Roman emperor Septimius Severus defeated the adversary for the imperial title Pescennius Niger .

The battle

During the turmoil of the Second Four Emperor's Year , both Septimius Severus and Pescennius Niger laid claim to the dignity of emperors. Severus' legions therefore invaded Niger's territory. The armies met at Issus , and the Severi were victorious.
