Publius Cornelius Anullinus (Consul 199)

Publius Cornelius Anullinus was a Roman politician and senator who was able to reach several high offices in the course of his decidedly long career. He was a close friend and ally of the Roman emperor Septimius Severus .

Anullinus came from Illiberis in the Baetica . His first important office was a suffect consulate , probably in 175. Towards the end of the reign of Emperor Mark Aurel , he was consular governor of the province of Germania superior . In 193 he was proconsul of the province of Africa . During the civil war for the successor to Commodus in the second year of the four emperors , Anullinus stood on the side of his friend Septimius Severus, who emerged victorious from the fighting. As a general of Severus Pescennius, he defeated Niger . In 195 he took part in a campaign against Adiabene and Osrhoene . During the reign of Severus he achieved other outstanding offices. He was appointed city ​​prefect (probably 199–203) and in 199 held the ordinary consulate.

His son of the same name was consul in 216.
