Publius Cornelius Anullinus (Consul 199)
Publius Cornelius Anullinus was a Roman politician and senator who was able to reach several high offices in the course of his decidedly long career. He was a close friend and ally of the Roman emperor Septimius Severus .
Anullinus came from Illiberis in the Baetica . His first important office was a suffect consulate , probably in 175. Towards the end of the reign of Emperor Mark Aurel , he was consular governor of the province of Germania superior . In 193 he was proconsul of the province of Africa . During the civil war for the successor to Commodus in the second year of the four emperors , Anullinus stood on the side of his friend Septimius Severus, who emerged victorious from the fighting. As a general of Severus Pescennius, he defeated Niger . In 195 he took part in a campaign against Adiabene and Osrhoene . During the reign of Severus he achieved other outstanding offices. He was appointed city prefect (probably 199–203) and in 199 held the ordinary consulate.
His son of the same name was consul in 216.
