The Battle of Latakia (Arabic: معركة اللاذقية ) on October 7, 1973 was a sea battle as part of the Yom Kippur War , which was fought between Israel and Syria in front of the Syrian port city of Latakia . It is the first naval battle in history when missile speedboats armed with anti-ship missiles collided. In addition, methods of electronic warfare were used for the first time .
