The castle was built around 1415. Investigations of the wooden fixtures showed that the trees were felled in 1413. The construction coincided with the death of Dietrich von Gemmingen in 1414, who in 1407 bought the part of Heimsheim belonging to Jakob von Stein . Dietrich von Gemmingen's son Diether von Gemmingen († before 1428) received half of the town after the division in 1425 and is accepted as the builder of the castle. Next to the gate are coats of arms in the Gemmingen-Selbach combination. Diether von Gemmingen was married to Anna von Selbach. The building has been fortress built. As early as 1578 the building was converted into a fruit box , whereby the defensive elements disappeared. After 1715 another renovation took place. The last renovation took place from 1985 to 1995.

Naming

The name Schleglerschloss is derived from the Schleglerbund . The archaeological investigations in 1986 and 1987 did not reveal any reference, however, as the federal government had already dissolved in 1396 and the castle could not have been its seat.

building

The back of the castle was placed on the city wall . The historical layout provided for stables, kitchens and storage rooms on the ground floor. The first floor was originally the study and reception room, today the knight's hall is located there. There were bedrooms on the second and third floors. Today there is a ballroom and a club hall. The defense of the building was ensured from the fourth floor. There are three more floors in the roof.
