Grinding burn

Under grinding burn is understood to mean thermal damage to the material. Grinding burn occurs during the grinding of workpieces .

New hardening or softening (during hard grinding ) of certain zones or structural changes can occur. Grinding burn can be seen with the naked eye on severely damaged workpieces . Blue to black discolouration forms on the component . Micro grinding burn is tested using a chemical test method ( grinding burn test ). There are currently various methods for detecting grinding burn, which are described in the US standard AGMA 2007-B92 and ISO 14104.
