The Neue Mühle lock is a lock in the Dahme waterway . It is located in the city of Königs Wusterhausen in Brandenburg.
history
The waterways in the Mark Brandenburg were already important transport routes for bulk goods by the Middle Ages at the latest. Beginning with the construction of mill dams, there was a conflict between river navigation, for which the rivers were traffic routes, and the interests of the mill operators, who used hydropower. The first lock was built in the area of the Neue Mühle in 1696 or 1739 at the latest. Its walls still flank a boat tow to this day .
In 1812 the old wooden structure of the lock was replaced by a solid one. Due to increasing wear and tear, a new chamber lock was built right next to the old one in 1868. A drawbridge was built over the lower lock gate , which enables tall ships to pass through the lock.

The chamber width is 5.33 meters and the height of fall or lift, which is overcome with each lock passage, is 1.50 meters. The heads of the lock are equipped with mortise gates on both sides .
