Ground joint

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The ground joint sleeve , also known as a grip collar sleeve , is an accessory in chemical laboratory technology that enables a gas- and liquid-tight connection between two glass devices with a standard joint . This means that the usual use of ground fat can be dispensed with, which prevents the occurrence of fat residues.

Ground-joint sleeves are made of PTFE , which means they can be used in a wide temperature range and have excellent chemical resistance. They are available in various standard ground joint sizes. A grip collar on the upper edge of the sleeve ensures easy handling and a very good seal. The grip collar can interfere with the use of joint clamps .

An alternative is the ground joint , which does not have a grip collar.
