Locations
- Schlitterbahn New Braunfels, Texas : The main system was built in 1979.
- Schlitterbahn Galveston Island , Texas : the facility, built in 2006, is the only one with a small indoor area that can also be operated in autumn and winter.
- Schlitterbahn South Padre Island , Texas : finally opened in February 2013 after some delay. The complex also includes a hotel resort and golf course.
- Schlitterbahn Kansas City, Kansas : In this amusement park, the highest water slide in the world to date was opened on July 10, 2014 after several dates were postponed . It bears the German name crazy and is with a starting point height of 168 feet and 7 inches (about 51.40 meters) higher than Niagara Falls or the Statue of Liberty ; the world record was recognized by the Guinness Book on April 25, 2014. The three-seater, dinghy-like slide vehicle reaches an acceleration of up to 5 g and a maximum speed of 65 mph (105 km / h ). The 607-foot (185-meter) long fiberglass open track is accessed via a spiral-shaped, 264-step-high tower made from recycled rail tank cars. The approximately 18 second journey begins with a 17 storey deep and 60 degree steep slope. This is followed by a five storey high and 22 degree steep hill (the originally planned incline of 45 degrees was discarded for safety reasons), with powerful water jets (Master Blaster) ensuring that the summit is overcome. Behind it comes the final slide into a pool of water. The slide was designed by Schlitterbahn co-owner Jeff Henry and the company's chief designer, John Schooley.
- In August 2016, there was an accident in "Crazy" in which a 10-year-old boy was killed in an accident. In November 2016 it was announced that the slide will remain permanently closed and will soon be demolished. In March 2018, a grand jury initiated criminal proceedings against the park and those responsible at the time . a. because of accidental manslaughter, opened.
Amusement parks in Fort Lauderdale , Florida and Cedar Park , Texas were planned but are currently (2020) not being pursued any further.
