Rabbi Shlomo Amar

Shlomo Moshe Amar ( Hebrew שלמה משה עמאר; * 1948 in Casablanca , Morocco ) was one of two chief rabbis in Israel . Shlomo Amar was the Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Israel from 2003 to 2013 .

The other Chief Rabbi during his tenure in Israel, the Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi Jona Metzger , suspended himself from some offices in June 2013 on the basis of corruption allegations, which he denies.

Yitzchak Josef was elected as the successor to the office of the Sephardic Chief Rabbis of Israel in July 2013 .
