Schloss-Quelle Mellis GmbH, based in Mülheim an der Ruhr, was founded around 1923 in Essen- Borbeck by Wilhelm Mellis and his sons Heinz and Fritz as the Mellis Brothers Mineral Water Factory near Borbeck Castle . Today it is run in the fourth generation by Jörg Mellis as managing partner and managing director Ralph Krahl.

The first own trucks were purchased in 1925 and replaced the delivery with horse-drawn carriages .

After the Second World War , in 1947, the bottling of lemonade for Bluna and Afri-Cola began . When Heinz Mellis took over the management of the company in 1963, a plot of land was acquired on Flurstrasse in Essen-Borbeck in order to expand the wholesale activities.

In 1986 the Raffelberger Mineralbrunnen in Mülheim an der Ruhr was taken over. As part of the growth target, further beverage logistics specialists were taken over and integrated into the corporate structure.

After Heinz Mellis, Jörg Mellis has been the fourth generation managing partner of the family company since 1993. In 1995, both beverage wholesalers in Essen and Mülheim an der Ruhr were merged to form a logistics center in Mülheim an der Ruhr. In 1996, a new production site with a glass filling plant was built on Flurstrasse in Borbeck.

In 2001 a PET filling plant was put into operation at the Essen production site, which has since been adapted to the required standards several times. In the same year, Schloss-Quelle was bottled in a 1-liter Petcycle bottle for the first time.

Since 2003, the Landfürst own beer brand has been marketed with various types.

Schloss Quelle has held the sole distribution rights for Waldberg fruit juices in North Rhine-Westphalia since 2008.

In 2009, Schloss Quelle, as a beverage logistics specialist, founded GET N Getränke National GmbH & Co KG as a purchasing and sales company together with three other owner-managed family businesses (Beverages Ahlers, Getränke Waldhoff, Getränke Geins) from the beverage wholesale trade. With 30 logistics locations, 1,200 specialist beverage stores and sales of more than 1.5 billion euros, GET N is the largest specialist beverage retail group in Germany.

In 2014, the introduction of the individual crate for 12 × 1.0 l PET and a new bottle shape served to further advance the brand.

2015 was the year of the Schloss Quelle gastronomy bottle in 0.75 l and 0.25 l containers for “Feine Perle” and “Gentle Enjoyment”.
