Bluna is originally in 1952 by the company F. Blu mhoffer Na chfolger GmbH in Cologne under the then managing director Karl flat on the market brought lemonade brand . In the 1950s, the brand was a sales success alongside Afri-Cola from the same company.

Since January 1994, Mineralbrunnen Überkingen-Teinach AG has owned the trademark rights for Bluna for Western Europe and neighboring Eastern European countries.

In 1965, next to the bottles bottling the box introduced. In the mid-1970s to the early 1980s, in addition to Bluna, Bluna-Zit (lemon) was sold in the classic 0.33-liter bottle. Between 1994 and 1998, alongside Bluna Orange (original version), the flavors lemon , lime and tangerine were introduced. Both the lime and tangerine variants are no longer available. In addition to the PET bottle , Bluna is also available in the 0.2 liter glass bottle for the catering trade .

The advertising slogan “Aren't we all a little Bluna?” (Spoken by the actor Utz Richter ), which was designed by the Jung von Matt agency in 1995 , was very successful and became firmly established in German usage . This is reflected in a large number of mentions in internet forums and blogs. The brand's promotional appearance also consistently addresses absurd situations.

The brand name Bluna is also used in parts of southwest Germany as an umbrella term for orange lemonade.
