Årsta Castle
Årsta Castle ( Årsta slott ) is a castle in Haninge Municipality near Stockholm .
Årsta became the seat of the Swedish Commandery of the Teutonic Order from Livonia in the 13th century . In 1467 it became the property of Erik Axelsson Tott . The castle was rebuilt around 1660 for Admiral Bjelkenstjerna, Erik Dahlberg may have been involved as the architect . At the beginning of the 19th century it was bought by Carl Fredrik Bremer, whose daughter, the writer Fredrika Bremer , lived here and in Stockholm. When Fredrika Bremer died in the house in 1865, it had belonged to the Swedish industrialist Lars Johan Hierta , who founded the newspaper Aftonbladet , since 1853 . The castle changed hands several times and in 1966 became the property of the municipality of Österhaninge (today the municipality of Haninge).
