Aichetschlössl

The Aichet Castle (also Aichetschlössl) is located in the statutory town of Steyr in Upper Austria (Sierninger Straße 82). The name Aichet is reminiscent of oak trees that used to stand in this district. The building is a historical monument.

history

View from late. 1893 ( Franz Kulstrunk )

Aichet was first mentioned in a document in the 13th century. Michael Aidn, who was city judge in 1585 and mayor of Steyr from 1595 to 1597, had today's Renaissance building built in the second half of the 16th century. From 1615 to 1636 Aichet Castle was owned by Wolf Katzianer von Fladnitz zum Katzenstein . This was followed by Freiherr von Walkun von Herberstorff , cousin of Count Adam von Herberstorff . The castle burned down in 1713 and was restored in 1748. Only one of the four corner towers was preserved. In 1782 it belonged to the barons of Riesenfels. Further owners were the Köstler family in 1930 and then the Pampel family. Until the death of folklorist Renate Pampel in 1987, the castle housed the folklore collection of Marianne Kautsch . Today the castle owners are the Stellnberger family.

architecture

The two and a half story building has a mighty gable roof with a crested hip . At the eastern corner of the building there is a cranked round bay window with a conical roof from the upper floor. The simple façades only have horizontal plaster bands on the ground floor. The building is a historical monument.
