Delémont Castle

The Delsberg Castle ( French Château de Delémont ) is the former summer residence of the Prince-Bishops of Basel . It is located on the southwest corner of the old town of Delémont , the capital of the canton of Jura .

The current building stands on the site of a medieval castle. At the beginning of the 18th century, the Prince-Bishop of Basel , Johann Konrad von Reinach-Hirtzbach , commissioned the architect Pierre Racine from Renan to build a spacious summer residence .

Some parts of the building are now used as a kindergarten and primary school.

The castle is a cultural asset of national importance .
