Gaffron Castle, today the town hall

The Gaffron Castle ( Polish Ratusz w Rudnej ) is today as city hall occupied castle in Rudna (Lubin County) , Province of Lower Silesia .

history

The castle dates back to a system from the 14th century. From the 15th century Gaffron was owned by the von Loeben, in the 17th and 18th centuries owned by the von Niebelschütz . Under the von Schweinichen family , it was converted into a baroque palace. The corners of the front were given squat towers, and the portal was given a balcony at the end.

In 1780, Count von Schönaich-Carolath acquired the castle, later Ebers, Looper and von Reck and von Fanzius were owners. Count Max von Bethusy had the palace rebuilt in 1907 and expanded on the garden side. After the First World War , the Silesian Landgesellschaft acquired the entire estate in order to relocate it. But only the neighboring Rietschütz was settled. The castle and forest of Rietschütz and Klein-Gaffron were resold.
