Christian Dietrich von Röbel had the palace built at the end of the 17th century on the site of a moated castle first mentioned in 1380. history
The predecessor of today's castle is mentioned for the first time in 1380. Duke Wenzel enfeoffs the brothers Gerhard and Frycze von Glyne with Hemsendorf. Between 1458 and 1573 the complex was owned by the von Ryßen family (including Reysen and Reisen). From 1573 the fief belonged to the electoral Saxon councilor Michael Teuber , whose daughter Euphrosine married Hofrat Andreas Rauchbar. The facility remained in the possession of the Rauchbar family until 1618. During the Thirty Years War the place was uninhabited for a long time. In 1652 Wolf Otto Thümmel became the owner of the castle and Hans Heinrich Kuffer owned the estate until 1692. From 1702, Christian Dietrich von Röbel and the von Röbel family owned the facility. Christian Dietrich von Röbel redesigned the palace to its current appearance. A fire on the night of December 14th to 15th 1838 destroyed the brewery building at that time. After changing ownership several times, Georg Friedrich Berndt acquired the property in 1929. After the Second World War, the castle was used as a kindergarten, consumption and also as living space. In 2003 a private investor acquired the palace complex. Since then, this has been renovated and is open to visitors.

The formerly much larger park was partially converted into new farmer positions after the Second World War as part of the land reform .
