Lohe Castle ( Polish Dwór w Ślęzy ) is a castle in Ślęza (German Lohe ), which belongs to the rural municipality Kobierzyce in the Powiat Wrocławski in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in Poland . Historically, Lohe belonged to the principality of Breslau .

history

In 1248 Lohe was mentioned as a customs post on the Bohemian Route Wroclaw - Prague . According to the brick construction, it can be assumed that a residential tower surrounded by a moat was built in the 15th century . At the end of the 16th century, Nicolaus von Waldau expanded it into a Renaissance castle. Hans Christian von Roth married the castle to von Königsdorff . Felix Silvius Ferdinand Graf von Königsdorff sold the castle in 1835 to the Cologne sugar manufacturer Emil vom Rath. The castle came into the possession of the consortium "vom Rath, Schoeller & Skene".

After 1945 the castle , which remained undamaged in World War II , was first used as a prison, then as an administrative building for an agricultural research institute. Today the former farm buildings southeast of the castle have been converted into a hotel and an automobile museum . The landscape park covers 50 hectares and a large pond.

Structure

The medieval core building is the four-storey residential tower with a 13 m × 10 m floor plan, the masonry of which is formed by brick masonry interspersed with black hard-fire bricks . The mezzanine floor is offset by plastering. The residential wing adjoins the residential tower, the entrance portal of which suggests a defensive character. Inside, the cross-vaulted entrance hall and profiled door frames date from the construction period. On the upper floor there is a fireplace with the coat of arms of Christophorus Nicius, dated 1618.
