Möllersdorf Castle
The Möllersdorf Castle is a former castle in Möllersdorf a cadastral Traiskirchen in Lower Austria.
The building was built by one of the Counts Czernin before 1700 . But it changed hands in quick succession until it was converted into barracks in 1781 under Emperor Josef II, including the associated courtyard .
At the beginning of the 19th century a military hospital was set up, later a dilapidated house . In 1873 a military prison was housed in the building .
From 1920 to 1925 it was used as a civil penal institution until the city of Traiskirchen bought the building in 1927 and converted it into apartments - the Schusterhof was created .
The building was supposed to be razed towards the end of the 20th century. However, this was prevented by the monument protection ( list entry ) and the city of Traiskirchen began to renovate the building in 2002. A state kindergarten was set up and some old relics such as stone coats of arms and frescoes were restored.
