Maltesholm Castle

Maltesholm Castle (Swedish Maltesholms slott ) is located about 18 kilometers south of the Swedish city of Kristianstad near Östra Sönnarslöv in the province of Skåne län .

The castle was built in the 1630s under the landlord Malte Juel of Gjesinge in Renaissance style built. The building with its two side wings is surrounded by a moat. At the beginning of the 1780s, the castle was rebuilt, the top floor being replaced by today's hipped roof.

The castle is surrounded by one of the most beautiful parks in Skåne. A baroque park was laid out as early as the 17th century, which a century later was reshaped in the classicist style and supplemented by an extensive landscape park in the 19th century. In the park there is a summer house designed by the architect Carl Hårleman and the 1.3 kilometer long Höge väg leads through the park to the castle, a driveway up to 6 meters high and 12 to 20 meters wide.
