history

Former Meierhof of Mayrhof Palace

There are no documented reports from the Middle Ages . The Albrechtshammen from the village of Albrechtsham are named as the first owners. This is followed by Hieronymus Marschalk, who married the daughter of Kaspar Albrechtshammer in 1479. This woman Agnes, nee Wesen, widowed Messenbeck zu Schwendt, brought Mayrhof into the marriage as a marriage asset. Hans Kaspar Marschalk died around 1506, followed by his sons Wolfgang and Michael.

In 1589 the castle came into the hands of the Tattenbach family. Georg Tattenbach (Tatenpeck) († 1624) was a carer on the Marsbach on the Danube . He was followed by his grandson Johann Ardorf Freiherr von Tattenbach († 1666), carer in Ried im Innkreis . Hans Gottfried Freiherr von Tattenbach († 1648), Lord of Falkenberg and Mayrhof, was married to Johanna Sabina von Offenheim. From this marriage came three sons and three daughters. He was followed by Hans Ardolf, who also acquired the lords of Einburg , Eberschwang , Mayrhof and Utzenaich . The castle was built in 1668 on behalf of Count Gottfried von Tattenbach-Rheinstein († 1687) as a successor to a previously existing shelf. In 1735 Mayrhof came to the imperial count Max Franz zu Rheinstein and Tattenbach and Graf zu Valley. With his successor Josef Ferdinand, this family died out and Mayrhof inherited in 1821 to Count Maximilian von Arco-Valley .

As can be seen in the engraving by Michael Wening , Mayrhof (en) was a three-storey, stately palace in the shape of a square with a cranked round tower on the corner to the left in front of the entrance. It stood on an island in a pond and was accessed via a wooden bridge. Various farm buildings stood outside the pond. After being taken over by the Arco-Valley family, Mayrhof fell into disrepair.

In the 20th century, Mayrhof Palace was demolished due to its dilapidation. The outbuildings that used to belong to the castle are in poor condition, today there are meadows and new buildings on the site of the castle.
