The Mogoşoaia Castle is located in Romania . It is located around 15 kilometers northwest of the state capital Bucharest in a park on the banks of Lake Mogoșoaia in the Mogoșoaia municipality in Ilfov County .

Mogoșoaia Castle is one of the most famous cultural monuments in Romania. The Wallachian prince Constantin Brâncoveanu had the castle built between 1698 and 1702 on the estate of a widow Mogoș (from which the name Mogoșoaia comes from) in the Brâncoveanu architectural style named after him .

In 1912 the castle came into the possession of George III. Valentin Bibesco , who was married to the French writer Marthe Bibesco , who came from the Romanian nobility . He gave the property to his wife. Marthe Bibesco then had the castle extensively restored.
