Farm on the site of Ofenwang Castle

The former Ofenwang Castle was located in the Ernsting (Diepoltsdorf) district of the Ostermiething community in the Braunau district .

In the place of the abandoned castle (Diepoldsdorf 7) there is now a farm. The claim that an underground passage led up to a quarry from Ofenwang Castle cannot be proven.

history

The private seat at Ofenwang was proclaimed around 1150 with Reinbertus den Ovenwanch . In 1503 Kaspar Murhardt owned the residence. He was succeeded by the gentlemen von der Leitter, who united Ofenwang with their dominion in Wald. However, it is noted that this seat has "no proper grumble, even just a Hofpauren and Miller, who mix their greenery right under the regional court and have no but size" . Caspar Horhart zu Ofenwang and his wife Jacobina are attested in a document dated November 3, 1559.

Ofenwang belonged to the jurisdiction of Wildshut .
