Schönwaldau Palace was built in 1734 by the master builder JB Holtzhausen based on a design by Martin Frantz . It stands on a rectangular floor plan with three risalits and side wings, has two upper floors and an attic floor under a mansard roof with dormer windows . The façades on the ground floor were designed with studs , those on the upper floors were divided with pilasters .

The castle remained unused after 1945 and fell into ruin. Some ground floor rooms with barrel vaults have been preserved.
