List of Brazilian authors by epoch

The list of Brazilian authors by epoch contains the most famous prose writers, poets and essayists as they are also dealt with in reference works on Brazilian literary history. It is not designed to be complete, especially for modern times.

Regarding the order: Within the epochs, the order is generally based on the Brazilian lexical order according to the authors' first names, exceptions arise if an author is better known by another name.
