Adélia Luzia Prado Freitas (born December 13, 1935 in Divinópolis ) is a Brazilian writer.

Life

Adélia Luzia Prado attended school in her birthplace. After studying philosophy at the Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciências e Letras de Divinópolis, she worked as a teacher for 24 years. She began to publish her first poems in newspapers in her hometown. In 1969 her first book A Lapinha de Jesus was published . In 1976 she published her first collection of poems in Bagagem . For the volume of poetry O coração disparado (1978) she received the Jabuti Prize in the poetry category. In 1980 her first novel Cacos para um vitral was published and in 2006 her first children's book Quando eu era pequena . In 2014 she was awarded the Griffin Poetry Prize for her life's work .

Prado married in 1958 and has five children with her husband, José Assunção de Freitas.
