Griffin Poetry Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Griffin Poetry Prize is a Canadian literary prize founded by Scott Griffin in 2000 . It is awarded annually to English-speaking poets in the categories “Canadian” and “International” and has been endowed with a total of 200,000 CAD since 2010 , making it the world's most highly endowed poetry prize . Since 2006 a “Lifetime Recognition Award” has also been given to international poets. Griffin's original intention in justifying the award was to give more weight to the field of poetry in the literary landscape. The prize is awarded exclusively to volumes of poetry published for the first time. He demands that he consider both new and established authors regardless of their style.
