Luiz Alfredo Garcia-Roza (born September 16, 1936 in Rio de Janeiro ; † April 16, 2020 there ) was a Brazilian writer . He taught psychoanalysis theory for over thirty years and published several philosophical and psychological books . For his debut novel O silêncio da chuva he received the Prêmio Jabuti in 1997, along with three other writers . His second novel, Achados e perdidos (German title Die Tote von Ipanema ), was filmed in 2007 under the same title. His books have been translated into several languages.

Some of his crime novels with Commissioner Espinoza have been published in German.
