Simsdorf Castle

Simsdorf Castle ( Polish : Pałac w Szymanowie ) is a castle in the village of Szymanów ( German : Simsdorf) in the Powiat Świdnicki in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in Poland .

history

Simsdorf belonged together with the neighboring Schollwitz (today: Siodłkowice) from 1743 to the von Sternberg at Hohenfriedeberg Castle. From 1789 the barons of Seherr-Thoß owned the castle. Today's palace, which is remarkable for its architecture, was probably built after 1825. Its design cites the Berliner Schauspielhaus built by Karl Friedrich Schinkel until 1821 .

After 1945 the castle became the administrative seat of an agricultural production cooperative . Although the building was renovated in 1983, it has been privately owned since the late 1990s and is in ruins.

Building

The castle has an unusual basilica staggering. The central wing is framed by low side wings with mezzanine . Inside, an oval hall with surrounding Ionic columns forms the reception hall. A Doric portico was placed in front of the central wing.
