The Stubendorf Castle (Polish Pałac w Izbicku ) is a castle in the Upper Silesian Stubendorf (Polish Izbicko) in the Opole Voivodeship .

history

The first castle was built in the 16th century. In the 18th century the first drawings of the palace and its complex were made. In 1748 a fire destroyed the castle. At that time the building was owned by the von Larisch family . In 1812 another fire destroyed the castle and was then rebuilt in the classical style by the Count von Strachwitz .

During the uprisings in Upper Silesia , Stubendorfer Castle was set on fire in 1921 and looted beforehand. Between 1923 and 1932 it was rebuilt in the Baroque style.

The castle survived the acts of war in World War II unscathed. After Silesia fell to Poland , the property was nationalized. A state agricultural school was established in the castle, which was converted into a technical agricultural school in 1952 and existed until 1984. Up until that time, the castle continued to fall into disrepair because the renovation work required was not carried out. Many furnishings were lost as a result. The Stubendorfer Schloss was entered on June 25, 1965 under 1044/65 in the register of architectural monuments of the Opole Voivodeship. In 2003 the castle was bought by a private investor. Between 2005 and 2007 he had the castle renovated and opened a hotel in it.
