The Tümpling castle is in the district Tümpling the town Dornburg-Camburg in Saale-Holzland in Thuringia .

history

The castle, which stands on a spur-like hill east of the Saale, has cellars that were suitable for a case of defense. In addition, the castle is surrounded by gardens and parks . It is believed that it used to be a fortified mansion of the von Tümpling family . The family can be traced back to 1300 as castellans of Castle Camburg . The gentlemen from Tümpling appear several times in Jena documents from the 14th century.

The associated farm in 1945 expropriated and according to the laws of the land reform of evacuees divided.

After the turn

In 1993 the castle was acquired by descendants of the Tümplings and the reconstruction started immediately.
