The Třebušín Castle (German Triebsch Castle , Czech Zámek Třebušín ) is located in the municipality of Třebušín , Okres Litoměřice , Czech Republic.

history

11-19 century

The castle administrator (Bleh) of Litoměřice had his residence in Triebsch and "resided in a magnate's yard, which was entrenched by a moat and a fortification". According to the ceramics found at this point, the construction of the Magnatshof can be documented around the middle of the 12th century. However, around 1200 the property was devastated.

Triebsch came under the influence of the Teutonic Knights Order from 1282 , which had a manor house on site from 1257. Around 1384 there was a magnate's court above the church ("Bleh von Trebuson") and the mansion of the Teutonic Knights (Renaissance fortress), which later became the castle. Under the rule of the von Wartberg (Wartenberg) family from 1496 to 1540, the manor house was converted into a castle. During several raids by Swedish armies during the Thirty Years' War , the village and especially the old Romanesque church and tower were badly damaged. The castle was burned to the ground.

Baron Franz Karl Kressel von Qualtenberg "built a new castle" in the center of the village, which was later expanded and embellished by adding and adding storeys. The conversion of the Triebscher mansion / fortified castle into a small baroque castle began around 1710. Octavian Broggio is accepted as the builder - who is also regarded as the builder of the church. At that time, today's north wing was built (under which the foundation walls of the first Triebsch chapel lie). This new part was one story. The noble Kressl von Qualtenberg family held Trebusin in their possession until 1802, when the widow Josefina bequeathed it to her nephew Franz Karl von Puteani. After Franz Karl von Puteani's death, his widow Antonie, née Morzini, ran the Triebsch Castle. In 1860 she had the east wing extended and renovated. In 1899 there were further building changes. It is possible that at that time the single-story north wing was transformed into a two-story two-wing castle. The building measures approx. 35 m per wing and has a facade height of 9 to 11 m (without roof).

20th century

In 1913 Adele von Puteani sold the family property, including the park and the estate, to her cousin Helene and her husband Hans Georg Männel de Garrigues. The castle was thoroughly renovated that year and served as a family residence. The first hot water heating, the first bathrooms and "water closets" of the district were installed. Mannel died in 1922 of a heart condition. His wife and the entire extended family stayed in Triebsch until the end of the Second World War, when all German-speaking residents of the area were expelled due to the Beneš decrees . After that the castle was used as a refugee camp. It was later converted into a school.

In 1991 the castle was up for sale. HC Meraldi born Männnel de Garrigues initially leased it from the Trebusin community; When the political situation allowed, she bought it from the community and converted it into a hotel. In 2014 it was renamed "Zámek Třebušín". HC Meraldi died in 2005. The Schlosshotel Hubertus existed until 2010. Today (2019) it is rented as a holiday castle.
