Thomaswaldau Castle

Thomaswaldau Castle ( Polish : Pałac w Tomaszowie Bolesławieckim ) is a castle in Tomaszów Bolesławiecki (German Thomaswaldau ) in the rural municipality of Warta Bolesławiecka ( Alt Warthau ) in the powiat Bolesławiecki , Lower Silesian Voivodeship in Poland .

history

From the 15th century to 1703, the von Hock family had their headquarters in Thomaswaldau, then that of Haßlingen, who had the classicist castle built. In 1802 Hans August von Bissing was the owner. In 1812 the castle was sacked by Napoleonic troops, but otherwise unscathed. From 1824 Helene Countess von Larisch-Mannich was the owner, and it passed to von Pückler through marriage. Briefly owned by the Stolberg-Stolberg , from 1895 the von Oppersdorf owners.

After the region was claimed by the People's Republic of Poland , the castle was used by the state- owned PGR . The castle was renovated from 1985 and is now privately owned. The castle is surrounded by an overgrown park with the ruins of a mausoleum . A now wooded meadow valley east of the castle with a now silted pond was also included in the park. The park design also included the flood plain of the Kleine Bober (Bobrzyca), which can still be seen today.
