Welkersdorf Castle ( Polish : Pałac w Rząsinach ) is a castle in Rząsiny (German: Welkersdorf ) in the powiat Lwówecki ( Löwenberg district ) in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in Poland.

history

Christoph von Talkenberg had a permanent house built in 1494 . His son Rumpold had the property rebuilt around 1550 for the Renaissance period. Later owners from 1630 were von Hohberg, von Lestund after 1629 Heinrich von Poser , from 1673 von Schweinitz. By marriage in 1750 Bernhard Wilhelm Graf von Schmettau became the owner. Until 1831 the castle was owned by Hans Karl Graf von Diebitsch-Sabalkanski.

The owner Arnold Lüschwitz gave the castle its present appearance around 1840. In 1944 the Berlin Institute for Aviation Medicine moved into the palace.

After the upheavals in the region as a result of the Potsdam Agreement , the palace was used as a residential building. Today the castle is privately owned.

Building

The vaulted rooms, many window and door frames come from the Renaissance period and are similar to those of Plagwitz Castle . The cross-frame windows and stucco decoration in the two representative halls date from the 1750s. The front portico on Doric columns is remarkable . On the front there is also the marriage coat of arms of those von Schmettau.
